Grapes

Red, black and green grapes, seedless, sold on the bunch. Judge them by the stem rather than the fruit: green and pliable is fresh, dry and brown is old, and if grapes drop off when you lift the bunch it has been sitting somewhere too long.

Red is sweet with a light skin tannin, black is the richest and firmest of the three, and green — sold as white — is the crispest and sharpest. All three freeze whole, which is the best no-effort snack in a Dubai August.
