Banana, kiwi, Alfonso mango, papaya, avocado and pineapple. Almost everything here is bought by ripeness rather than by size, and most of it arrives firm and finishes on your counter.

Two or three days is the usual wait for an avocado or a mango, and it is worth it: fruit sent ready to eat arrives bruised in this heat, and putting a hard mango in the fridge kills the perfume permanently. The pineapple is the exception — it does not ripen further after picking, so choosing it well at the start is the only step that matters.
