Leafy & Herbs
The fastest-perishing things we carry, and the reason we deliver daily rather than twice a week. The Fresh Herbs Bunch is the mixed bunch — coriander, parsley, mint, jaji, onion leaves and red radish — and the two lettuces cover the two jobs a lettuce does.
Iceberg is for crunch and for holding a dressing without collapsing; the loose-leaf lettuce is softer, tastes of more, and is better in a salad you are eating within a day. Neither one improves with waiting.
Buy leaves for two or three days at a time, not for the week. Everything on this page keeps far longer wrapped in a dry cloth or paper in the fridge than in the bag it travelled in, because the bag traps exactly the moisture that rots it. Herbs will go ten days treated properly and two days ignored.
